This can be a controversial issue to few people, because some people believe that having a special day for someone important is useless and it is just for the commercial purposes. Having a single day to respect the loved ones is not enough and people should show the respect and love to their Mothers every single day.
But on the other hand, I am here to convince you to think how important it is to have a special day like Mother’s Day to show love and care for a special person. If you are the person who doesn’t like to celebrate special days like this, I hope you also don’t like to celebrate you birthday too. Think how important your birthday is.
“A mother’s love is patient and forgiving when all others are forsaking, it never fails or falters, even though the heart is breaking” ~ Helen Rice
There is a great history behind the Mother’s Day celebration. This day is emerged from a custom of mother worship in ancient Greece. They worshiped Cybele, the wife of Cronus (mythology), and this custom was held in most part of the Asia and eventually Rome itself (March 15-18). In the USA, Mother’s Day was copied from England after the American Civil War.
By remembering the importance of motherhood and respect in the one who gave you life is not a controversial issue after all. Everyone should at least remember what their mothers did to them and show gratitude towards their mothers. They give only love and care without showing any selfishness towards their children.
“A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie.”~ Tenneva Jordan
People who live far away from their mothers will get a chance to show their gratitude and express their love by getting something as a gift or something to show how important their mother is to them.
Even though we pray god every single day, there are few special days like Christmas, Ramadan, Hindu festivals and etc. You celebrate these days for god who you cannot even see, but why can’t you celebrate a day for your mother who is like a god and you can see her here in the world right in front of you.
“God could not be everywhere and therefore he made mothers” ~ Jewish Proverb
