What is Juneteenth. It’s a celebration in US marks the freedom of Slaves. On June 19 th 1865 in Texas its announced that slaves are free. It happened two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation. There is a more facts about this observance on chosun. Read it here

    What does 143 mean?

    I just learned from this post that “143″ is now a new hit with youngsters to say ” I love you”. I never heard anyone saying 143 to someone. I think it’s used in text messages on cellphones. Any thoughts?

    Professional immigrants

    Aidan Maconachy write a good article on his blog spot light the issue of immigrant doctors who work in odd jobs. It’s very sad to know while there is a doctor shortage in Canada these highly educated professional waste their skills in low end jobs.

    Here are some excerpts from the article:

  • Canadian Colleges of Physicians and Surgeons require all graduating doctors to complete a residency of two years or more.
  • only Canadian and American residencies are accepted in Canada.
  • In order to be eligible for residency they have to have at least a year of medical practice behind them … but in order to practice in Canada they have to have residency.
  • One study predicts that come 2011, Canada may be short as many as 6,000 doctors.
